It's Not Just Because I Love Helping People, but ...
I don’t know any greater happiness or feel any greater joy than when I am able to help someone.
I do love helping people. Bringing a smile to someone’s face, even if they never know it was me, is priceless. I didn't know my grandparents., except I met my dad’s dad and my mom’s mom, once each My older sister tells me stories about my grandmother, and I get so jealous! It made me long to be around older people.
I used to bring little gifts and cards to some of my elderly neighbors.
Sometimes I would leave the gift on their porch, knock on the door and run away, then hide behind a tree or something. From there I’d just watch, and often I’d catch them smirking. Knowing I’d made a difference, even if small, was such a joyful experience that I continue to carry that with me throughout my life, and my everyday goal is always trying to make a positive difference in someone's life. And helping seniors is my passion. I’ve always carried a special fondness for seniors. I’ve continued to help the elderly whenever I get the opportunity. Much of my volunteer work has been working directly helping the elderly. That work has included working with-- SeniorCare, Alternative Hospice, and running senior fitness classes at various nursing homes. I was a supervisor at the Grace Center, a community program that provided warm & nutritious meals, warmth, services and encouraging words for our transient guests. A majority of our guests were, unfortunately, senior citizens. I just can't imagine at that point in my life living with uncertainty and instability, and that broke my heart.
I am thrilled to be able to put that love and passion for helping people into a business I can be proud of and hopefully, fulfill my life goal of making a difference in a person's life every day.
To-Do Lists @ Errands Made EZ for Seniors, we get To-Do List DONE!
Sometimes just helping to complete a senior’s To-Do list can provide such stress reduction and comfort, reaching my daily goal is easy. It makes such a difference in that person's day and an overall sense of well-being. To help someone complete their to-do list can Be very rewarding. Spending more time with that client doing chores in their home, providing basic home care or assisting the senior with other tasks makes for a very complete, joyful package for hopefully both the client and myself.
I have experienced long term success with Errands Made Easy in NH. I expect EME4Seniors to become just as popular and in demand. But I want to stay small and personal That's why here in CT we only make our services available to the over 65 crowd☺. See you soon -Diana
This door knocker was my first, handwritten and cut marketing attempt for the original Errands Made Easy in Wolfeboro, NH in 1995. It actually worked very well! Wow...almost 25 years ago! So excited to have opened a branch down here in CT. I know its value and what it can provide for seniors and their families. It's a wonderful thing.
So, about the new Errands Made EZ 4 Seniors (EME4Seniors) blog! Again, so excited! I am thinking of writing posts about questions & experiences that clients had now and in the past. I have some hilarious and sometimes embarrassing stories from the archives of the original EME, which I've learned so much from. I would also like to address up and coming new errand companies [potentially] wanting my guidance. I am actually working with a sweet young lady from Boston who has the right temperament and motive for working with seniors. I am very particular about who I help in any capacity.
This company, EME4Seniors is as concerned with clients and their needs over money, just like the parent company, Errands Made Easy. My motive back then was to work with the elderly. I hoped clients would feel like I was a daughter or granddaughter, at least a trusted friend. As I never knew my grandparents on either side, I longed for that type of relationship. As a small child, I would bring my elderly neighbors flowers and candy bars. I would make them cards and help clear their driveways after storms. I did whatever I could do, and half the time I'd step back and peek, so they'd never know it was me. Kinda creepy now I guess-hah. Just wanted to see their joy, and I did. And that brought me such joy. So imagine as an adult how much joy I experience helping my favorite population! If I can make a living at it, that's a great bonus. I will keep you posted, but please feel free to post any questions or comments on our new blog, and I'll be sure to answer them. Thanks for joining me on this journey. Diana
